Pre-Heat Festival

Lakeland, Florida

by Harry Dingles – Double Uprising Staff Writer

Morning peeps!

Normally the press team would not be up this early, but we got a festival to go to.  This one is different that most festivals that we go to.

1. We are not “covering’ the event.

2. You don’t really cover a Burning Man Regional, it covers you.

To put it in a better word you Participate!  Sometimes when people get caught up taking pictures, worring about there next tweet or Facebook post they actually miss participating in the event.

Pre-Heat in Lakeland, Florida is a spawn of the big boy Burning Man in the desert in the Nevada and we will not be covering in the traditional sense, we will simply be smashing it!

Everyone who is reading this

take the time to ponder this. Got to this event, turn off your phone, unplug from the outside world and experience what is in front of you. It’s like a game of tag, do you take pictures from the side line (or even just watch) and say wow that looks like a fun game of tag. Or do you join in the fun.

Tag, Your it!

See you there, I will be the lad with the cape and the Treasure Chest O’ Beer.

Virgina Key Grassroots Festival – Thursday, February 9th, 2012

by Harry O’Rourke

Monsoon Rain!! Oh nooo. But it’s all good, because we had a chill spot in the, “Thank God for this huge tent” dance tent.

The Grassroots people had it dialed in. It sure did not seem like this was their first Florida festival. (Get down here by the way. Saturday and Sunday should be sunny and the music lineup will be on point – Official Virginia Keys Grassroots Website)

Making things even better about our huge dance tent was that Arrested Development was set to rip it down later that night. A show I have been hoping to see since I was a kid. I thought to myself,  “what’s a little rain in South Florida right?” The air was still warm and the vibe was tight.

Arrested Development – Dance Stage – Thursday Night, February 9th.

Protected from the rain, the Double Uprising press team hit it heavy. Photographers Tracey Ahrendt (her site) and Dallas snapped pictures while I got the chance to schmooze, and wet the beak under the Florida Brewing Company beer garden tent. Watch out festival goers the Swamp Ape will kick you ass.

Stay tuned,,,,

We got a little lucky, meeting the lead guitar and other band members of The Heavy Pets. More pictures to come!

Moksha Art Fair – Art Basel 2011
7 Circuit Studios – Miami, FL

December 3rd, 2011 – bv Double Uprising Staff writer Harry O’Rourke

moksha art fair - art basel 2011

The quote on the flyer read “Get transported into a unique multi-sensory experience.”  Flyers like these and many others have been passing in front of my “got to go to event” radar ever since I journeyed to Florida 6 years ago.   I had heard about this amazing venue where it was an outdoor and indoor, spiritual and funky adventure.  I was finally going there and we were about to do it right, the Moksha Party at 7 Curcuit Studios, during Art Basel, hell yeah.

Arriving with one of my teammates in the crime, local south florida photographic artist Tracey Ahrendt, our sites were set on not only covering the night, but getting involved fun that I have heard about for many years now.

Upon walking in, was all smiles, you can really feel the love they have and excitement they feel about their event.  The beautiful woman at the door passed us through to my first and not last “multi-sensory experience” you get at this spot.  Here are some pictures of the event. I love showing the people, and we have on of the group Guadi

which rocked my soul and had Tracey pretty ecstatic.  I will let the pictures below speak for themselves, the fun went into the night and great people hung out into the day light the following morning. The vibe was electic, the art gave you the perfect mind sidetrack and the outdoor area, bumpin bus, and big secret (not really so secret) side room offered many hours of change of scenery. This type of variety is something I really cherish at any venue especially with good people at every turn! Oh yeah, and there was good beer at a decent price!

The event was one I will not miss in the future. In my travels, I think I will always gravitate to 7 Circuit Studios and the Moksha Family Events ( The flyer did what it promised, and we all left happy, transported for some time to a world where people still smile at eachother and are not afraid to chill and laugh into the morning light, if not longer!
