One Love Nutrifest – Miami, Florida – 2012

February 18, 2012 at Grand Central Park in Downtown Miami

by Harry Dingles with photography by Desdemona “Dallas” Meck

Wow, I just got chills.  The One Love Manifesto is pretty damn powerful (check it out). On February 18th, 2012 at the newly setup Grand Central Park in Downtown Miami, One Love successfully pulled off what Double Uprising did a few years back with it’s Funk Exchange Festival. The plan: combine awesome music (see more pics below), an amazing vibe,

a sweet outdoor venue, art…

and some REAL food… (Thrive website)

…and all along in the background they kept it real and supported a great cause.

One sentiment that struck me the most in the Manifesto was when they spoke about

“the need to operate as a holistic community not willing to settle for anything less than the change that needs to happen in the world.”

That is a very powerful, goose bump – raising sort of a statement that will have me covering any events that One Love and Rockaz Mvmt throw from here to the end of time.

An email I got from the Rockaz Mvmt team after the event put a lot into perspective. “Curley’s House was able to secure two tons of food and five thousand dollars to help further its mission of providing food, clothing and a variety of services for low to moderate income individuals and families in the local community.”

This was all made possible with a simple statement on the flyer to bring cans of food for free admission.  Nice!

Double Uprising…

tends to only like to cover festivals that have a real backbone- the backbone of change, while utilizing the universal unifier, music (and world music from multiple cultures!!!), to help a cause.  Beautiful!

Don’t settle for anything less than making true real change, and did I forget? The music was out of control.  The people were all smiles, danced, and kept the vibe tight. Not to mention, all my life I have been hoping to see Midnite, and I had no idea know how rocking and roots Luciano is. They are both reggae legends.

Big thanks to the Rockaz Mvmt for making this so smooth and for setting up a great area for us to cover the event.
